Fish Out of Water...
I could probably count the times I've seen Carly at places other than a pool on one hand, this time included. We did the first part of her senior session at the pool and on the beach because that is where she spends most of her life. But senior portraits wouldn't be complete without a session with her make-up done and her favorite clothes. She looks so natural and comfortable outside in a field. You'd never know that an unidentified animal jumped out and scared the you know what out of us just seconds before! And since the is part of the first class to go to the new high school and the first class that will be graduating from the new high school we HAD to do some pictures AT the new high school! Good luck on your senior year, Carly! You look gorgeous!

Curls and Dimples!
Finn is a 3 year old cutie who just recently became a big brother. After posing for some pictures I took for the Fluvanna SPCA's July TV ad, his grandmother decided he needed to start a portfolio. After all, who can resist curls and dimples? Well, his mother decided she was right and we met on a muggy Thursday morning at Pleasant Grove, a Fluvanna County favorite spot, and rolled around in the wet grass and tried to get Finn to pose for the camera. Of course he had other ideas! I managed to catch him laughing and smiling a few times and I am pleased with the results. Anyone know a good agent?

Be Mine Valentine's Day Contest Winners....
Remember way back when it was cold outside and I ran a couple's contest and the winner received a photo session? Chelsea and Sam won second place with something like 6 or 7 hundred votes! (The first place winners haven't been able to use their session yet). Because of the huge response I received from this contest, I decided to give the second place winners a session, too. I was very excited to finally meet Chelsea and Sam and I couldn't wait to photograph them because they are such a great looking couple and I just knew their photos would turn out fantastic! Chelsea had originally picked Carter's Mountain as her setting, but they weren't open early enough and then we chose Jefferson Vinyards and they weren't open yet either! We finally ended up driving down 53 to the stone bridge by Monticello and it ended up being the perfect location! We are so lucky to live in such a beautiful area and I was very lucky to photograph such a gorgeous couple! I hope you guys love your photos as much I do!

Charlottesville's Newest Coffee Joint Opens Their Doors....
Coffee anyone? There is a new expresso bar in town! Milli Joe Coffee and Gelato opened up on the corner of Preston and McIntyre this weekend. They are family owned and operated, and even named after the youngest sister in a family of 6! Nick and Niki are a husband and wife team who followed their dream of owning a coffee house. They serve any coffee drink you can imagine, homemade gelato, pastries and sandwiches from Albemarle Baking Company. Bring your laptop or tablet and enjoy some free wifi and a great cup of "Mili Joe".

A Dog is a Kid's Best Friend.....
Or at least Mater thinks so! Mater is an American Bull Dog mix whose job is specifically to love, cuddle and make people laugh! He even posed for a group shot with the kids! Effort Baptist Summer Day Program got a hands on chance to see what it is like to run the Fluvanna SPCA. The kids got to visit with the animals, pick up sticks from the walking trails, fill boxes with clean litter for the cats and even give a dog a bath! Tricia (the FSPCA director) and all the staff taught the kids how much responsibility it is to own and take care of a pet and Mater taught them how worth the effort it really is when all the hard work pays off with the perfect friend! Everyone learned a lot and had a great time!
